Be a curator

Start by considering the colour scheme and furniture already in your space – are your walls millennial pink or titanium white? Is your table metal or wooden? Create cohesion by choosing an art print to echo an accent colour or selecting a frame in a material that matches your other pieces. Next thing on the list – how much wall space do you have available? A big print in a small space can throw off the balance, but large-scale artwork in soothing tones looks great above beds in bigger rooms. You could even use prints as the starting point for decorating the rest of your space – pick out a couple of different shades from the art print and use them as inspiration for paint and furnishings.

Make a fabulous focal point

Wall art can make an eye-catching focal point and it's a great conversation-starter – trust us, it's even better than the bookcase. How about creating a gallery wall over the sofa by mixing sizes and mediums?
